GoFundMe campaign raises money for family of Mass. man found dead in apparent homicide

A GoFundMe campaign is raising money to support the family of a Lynnfield man who was found dead earlier this month in an apparent homicide.

Timothy O’Neil, 55, was found dead from “apparent trauma” after police responded to an address on Lookout Terrace in Lynnfield around 8:30 p.m. on May 9, the Essex County District Attorney’s Office said previously. Authorities have so far released little information about his death, but have said that they do not believe there is a wider threat to the public.

Originally from Lynn, O’Neil was a self-employed landscaper and snow remover who “took immense pride in his work,” according to his obituary. He was a talented football player, devoted Dallas Cowboys fan and an avid golfer and outdoorsman.

More than anything, O’Neil loved spending time with his family, including his best friend and wife, Kristin O’Neil, his daughters, Terin O’Neil and Alicia Kuchar and his granddaughter, Layla Rich, according to his obituary.

“For those who knew Tim, you know he was the first to lend a hand when someone needed it,” Kristin O’Neil’s friend, Miriam Miller, wrote on the GoFundMe campaign page. “A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he was the quiet rock of his family — steady, loving, and deeply cherished. His sudden passing has left an unimaginable void and a family still reeling from the shock.”

The campaign had raised just over $9,000 of its $25,000 goal by Monday evening. Click here to donate.

“This GoFundMe has been created to honor Tim’s memory by supporting his granddaughter Layla’s education and helping his family navigate the financial burdens that come with such a tragic loss,” Miller wrote. “Any support you can offer is deeply appreciated as they begin to rebuild in the wake of this heartbreak.”
