Former Red Sox WS-winning hitting coach hired by NL contender

For the third time in seven years, Tim Hyers is moving to a new team.

The former Red Sox hitting coach, who helped Boston win a World Series title in his first season on the staff under Alex Cora in 2018, is moving from the Rangers to the Braves in the same position, the club announced Thursday. Hyers spent the last three years as Texas’ hitting coach after leaving Boston following the 2021 season. He’s a Georgia native so the move will bring him much closer to home.
