On library benches and fire hydrants, pink sleeves and blue armbands, superman stickers and helmet decals, tattoos and t-shirts, Alex Blais’ name is remembered in East Longmeadow.
Blais was an East Longmeadow pee wee football player who passed away after a multi-year battle with brain cancer in 2018. In the presence of his family and the East Longmeadow football team, including some of his former pee wee teammates, his No. 73 jersey was retired on Oct. 27. Last week’s Thanksgiving game would have been the last of his senior season.
