Former Patriots champ who hasn’t played since 2023 signs with Tom Brady’s Raiders

Phillip Dorsett will look to get back onto an NFL field with his former quarterback’s team.

The wide receiver signed a contract with the Las Vegas Raiders on Tuesday, according to multiple reports. The terms of the deal are unknown.

Dorsett spent three seasons with the New England Patriots with Tom Brady — who’s a minority owner of the Raiders — as his quarterback. The 32-year-old was part of the New England’s Super Bowl LIII win over the Los Angeles Rams.

The 2015 first-round pick hasn’t played an NFL game since 2023 when he made two appearances for the Denver Broncos. Dorsett signed a deal with the Atlanta Falcons in October and spent most of the season on the practice squad before he was released in May.

Dorsett also spent OTAs with the Raiders in 2023, but never made the team.

Since departing the Patriots after the 2019 season Dorsett has struggled to find a consistent home and playing time. He played 15 games in 2022 while with the Houston Texans, but only started four of those contests.

Whether the veteran wideout is able to revive his career remains unknown, but he has familiarity with Raiders coach Pete Carroll, who was Dorsett’s coach in Seattle with the Seahawks.
