The National Weather Service issued a flood watch at 3:14 a.m. on Tuesday valid from Wednesday 1 p.m. until Thursday 7 a.m. for Franklin, Hampshire and Hampden counties.
The weather service adds, “Flooding is possible from excessive rainfall as well as northern New England snowmelt.”
“Excessive runoff from heavy rain combined with snowmelt in northern New England will bring the potential for some mainstem River Flooding. Flooding may also occur in poor drainage and urban areas,” explains the weather service. “You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.”
