First $1 million prize claimed in Mass. Lottery’s new ‘Monopoly’ game

The first $1 million prize was claimed on Monday from the Massachusetts State Lottery’s new board-game themed scratch ticket game.

The “$4,000,000 Monopoly Doubler” scratch ticket game was released on Feb. 20 and costs $10 per ticket to play.

There are still nine $1 million prizes and all four $4 million prizes remaining to be claimed as of March 12. The game features images of traditional “Monopoly” board game pieces, like the race car, thimble and dog, along with Mr. Monopoly himself.

The winning $1 million ticket was sold in East Boston from a shop called East Coast Variety.

Additionally, another $1 million prize was claimed on Monday. That winning ticket was from the “$4,000,000 Bonus Bucks” scratch ticket game, and was sold on Nantucket at Old South Diner.

Overall, there were at least 778 lottery prizes worth $600 or more won or claimed in Massachusetts on Monday, including 5 in Springfield, 34 in Worcester and 77 in Boston.

The Massachusetts State Lottery releases a full list of winning tickets every day. The list only includes winning tickets worth more than $600.

So far, the two largest lottery prizes won in Massachusetts in 2024 were two $4 million prizes. One was claimed on Tuesday, Jan. 16, and the other was claimed on Tuesday, Feb. 27.
