Fall-like temperatures ahead for Mass. after stormy weekend

After a wet and stormy weekend across Massachusetts, residents of the Bay State can expect a far drier and calmer week, with fall-like temperatures ahead.

An area of high pressure will build in from the west on Monday, bringing a cool and dry airmass to Massachusetts. High temperatures are expected to range from 68 to 73 on Monday, with a quiet and cool night ahead.

Temperatures should fall to the 40s overnight, with areas along the coast slightly warmer, in the low 50s.

A “rinse and repeat type of day” is ahead on Tuesday with increasing clouds later in the day, National Weather Service forecasters wrote.

The next chance for precipitation comes Wednesday into Thursday. No major impacts are expected from the weather system, which should bring only rain showers.

Forecasters’ “highest confidence for wetting rain” is across Cape Cod and the Islands. “Something to monitor as we head towards the middle part of the week,” forecasters wrote.

“Temperature-wise, as we have been advertising, this week will feel like fall with temperatures in the lower 70s and upper 60s and nights on either side of 50,” forecasters added.
