Explosive materials believed to have been used in railroad operations were found at a Massachusetts home.
The Medway homeowner where the materials were found was a retired railroad worker and a collector of historic railroad items, Medway Fire Chief Michael Fasolino said in a press release.
The Medway Fire Department and Medway Police Department investigated the report of the potential hazard. Out of an abundance of caution, the Massachusetts State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad were notified and responded to the scene.
The Bomb Squad safely removed the materials, took them to a secure location and conducted a controlled detonation, officials said.
“The hazard has been fully mitigated, and there is no threat to the public,” the statement read.
