Ex-Patriots standout has new arrest warrant in Massachusetts

Though he’s moved on from the Patriots, J.C. Jackson is still having legal issues in Massachusetts.

The former New England cornerback didn’t appear for a probation violation hearing in Attleboro District Court on Friday and now has a straight warrant out for his arrest, MassLive has learned.

Originally charged with criminal speeding in 2021, Jackson didn’t abide by the terms of his probation. He didn’t complete the “Brains At Risk” program he was ordered to take, nor did he pay a $300 fine. After failing to appear in court last week, the warrant was issued.

Jackson’s attorney didn’t have comment when reached by MassLive.

The cornerback was a healthy scratch for the Chargers on Sunday afternoon, but it’s unknown whether the two things are related in any way. Asked about benching Jackson, Los Angeles coach Brandon Staley said it was simply his call following a 28-24 win over the Vikings.

“Just a coach’s decision,” Staley told reporters. “We felt this was the right group for this game, and really nothing more than that.”

When asked whether Jackson would return to the Chargers lineup, Staley was non-committal.

“It’s to be determined,” Staley told reporters.

An undrafted free agent in 2018, Jackson spent the first four years in New England and was a ballhawk in the Patriots secondary, intercepting 25 passes. He cashed in with a five-year, $82.5 million contract in Los Angeles last offseason, but has struggled to live up to the deal thus far.
