Easthampton event, ‘A Call for Peace, Now More Than Ever,’ to recall atomic bombs (Viewpoint)

According to a recent Chicago Tribune editorial that appeared in The Republican (“Nuclear war’s risk now back with vengeance,” July 20), “It’s time for the targets of these terrible weapons – us, that is – to rise up and say, ‘No!’”

I and many other Americans couldn’t agree more.

For example, a new survey of North American Catholics and others by PCAN (the Pax Christi New England Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons) found that nearly 85% of more than 900 respondents see these weapons as an existential threat and almost half want to abolish them.
