Drake Maye has message for Patriots fans after learning he’s crushing the Pro Bowl vote

FOXBOROUGH — In the latest update from the NFL, Drake Maye was running away with the most Pro Bowl votes.

According to the ballots cast on league websites, the second-year Patriots quarterback had garnered 64,576 votes, almost 10,000 more than Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba in second place. The closest quarterback to Maye was Rams standout Matthew Stafford at 50,148 votes.

When asked about the voting, Maye thanked the fans for the support he’d been getting, while poking a little fun at teammate Will Campbell’s thick Louisiana accent in the process.

“I appreciate the fans. The fans are awesome here,” Maye said. “Patriots fans are all over the country. We see in away games, we travel great. They’ve been great to me. They’ve embraced me. (I’m) from the South, little bit of a Southern accent — not like Will’s but…

“We try to give them something to cheer for and they’re doing that. We’re doing our part and they’ve been showing up. Looking forward to another home one in Gillette this weekend.”
