SPRINGFIELD — Lawyers embroiled in a $10 million lawsuit filed by a Holyoke police officer against the U.S. Department of Justice over a car wreck continue to trade evidence as the case heads to trial.
A federal magistrate judge on Tuesday held a hearing with attorneys on both sides to move the case along with discovery deadlines. But she stopped short of setting a trial date.
Holyoke Police detective Jessica Lee Roy filed suit last year against the town of Easthampton, police officer Luis A. Rivera and the feds after she was T-boned while she was in her unmarked car. Her complaint says Rivera, driving an FBI-owned vehicle, struck hers. Rivera was a member of an FBI task force when the vehicles collided before 6 a.m. on June 15, 2021.
