Despite façade alterations to proposed Dollar General, neighbors are still against it

SOUTHWICK — While the Westfield architect representing Dollar General said the commercial real developer is open to changing the design of the building to fit into the rural character of the town, those living in the neighborhood adjacent to the site on College Highway were not swayed.

“Regarding the look of the building, you’ve all heard the saying, ‘if you put lipstick on a pig, it’s still a pig,’” said Dan Bishop, who lives in the Winnfield Circle neighborhood less than 100 feet from the proposed site of the building at 771 College Highway.
