BOSTON — On Friday, Craig Breslow made his first deal of trade deadline season, obtaining James Paxton to give the Red Sox an experienced starter for a largely inexperienced rotation — and a lefthanded one to boot. It qualified as a reasonable move to fill an obvious need.
On Saturday, Breslow struck again. Sending three prospects to the Toronto Blue Jays for catcher Danny Jansen, and this time, the fit isn’t nearly as perfect.
