WEST SPRINGFIELD — There might still be snow on the ground, but thoughts of warmer weather brought crowds to the Springfield RV, Camping & Outdoor Show at the Eastern States Exposition on Friday.
The annual event, which spans four days during Presidents’ Day weekend, draws outdoor enthusiasts from across New England who are treated to a showcase of recreational vehicles, camping gear, outdoor equipment and travel destinations inside the Better Living Center, Mallary Complex and Young Building.
Families, retirees and first‑time buyers took advantage of early‑show crowds to tour RV interiors, speak with manufacturers and campground representatives, and shop at specialty-food vendors.
For the younger set, the Shriners were on hand with their popular balloon-making.
They will return with clown shows on Saturday and Sunday, while yo-yo expert Eric Koloski will perform on Saturday and Monday, and Magician Ed Popielarczy will perform on Sunday.
Several seminars on camping, maintenance and outdoor-related subjects will be held each day.
The Springfield RV, Camping & Outdoor Show, which marks its 64th year, continues on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Monday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Admission is $15 for adults, $12 for Disabled American Veterans and military, with children under 12 admitted free. Admission will be collected upon arrival at the booths at Gates 1 and 9. Eastern States charges $5 for parking.
