A crane fell on its side on Interstate 95 southbound on Friday, causing traffic to slow to a crawl near Sharon, according to NBC10.
Massachusetts State Police troopers, the Sharon Fire Department and Sharon EMS responded to a tractor-trailer crash on I-95 south near exit 19 in Sharon at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, according to an email from the Massachusetts State Police.
The driver of the tractor-trailer had non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash, the email read.
Officials partially closed the highway and requested a heavy-duty tow truck. According to Mass511, a website that monitors traffic, the highway was reduced to two lanes between Route 27 and I-95 as of about 4:40 p.m.
After 4 p.m. on Friday, fire officials contacted the Department of Environmental Protection to help with a saddle tank fuel rupture, State Police said.
The crash remains under investigation by the State Police.
As of 5:08 p.m. on Friday, traffic on I-95 southbound was backed up from around Route 27 in Sharon to the I95/I93 interchange, according to newengland511.org. Traffic was also congested nearby on Route 1 southbound.
