WESTFIELD – On Feb. 20, the City Council approved $1 million in free cash to the Turf Project Fund for the structure of a new concession stand and bathrooms for the new athletic field project at Westfield High School on a vote of 11 to 1. Kristen Mello was the sole no vote.
Finance subcommittee chair Ralph Figy said the committee had a lengthy discussion with Purchasing Director Tammy Tefft on the numbers of bathroom stalls needed and required for the project. He said 50% of the cost of the project is due to labor costs at prevailing wage.
