For the second straight day, Massachusetts will see cooler than normal temperatures on Friday, but summer warmth is just around the corner.
High temperatures are expected to range between the high 60s and low 70s, with areas west of Worcester County slightly warmer, in the mid-70s. It will remain largely dry throughout the day, with some spot showers overnight.
A warm front pushes into the region Friday night, bringing with it those spot showers, which are expected to linger into early Saturday morning. National Weather Service forecasters expect a “wide range of temperatures” Saturday afternoon, depending on the trajectory of the front.
The weather service anticipates the front stalling out around the Route 2 corridor in the northern part of the state, with temperatures north of the front remaining in the 60s. But areas of southwest Connecticut will climb all the way to the low to mid-80s. In between those areas, forecasters anticipate highs in the low 70s.
Later Saturday afternoon, a cold front moves in, bringing thunderstorms primarily to areas southwest of New England. Still, “those with outdoor plans will want to
remain weather aware,” forecasters wrote.
The real warmth returns Sunday, with temperatures climbing to the low 80s then rising as high as the low 90s on Monday and Tuesday.
