‘Competitive’ job market awaits Class of 2024 but networking, persistence pay off

WESTFIELD — As a resident assistant at Westfield State University, senior Dontavius “Tay” Henry is responsible for 38 fellow students in his dorm. He’s good at telling you about it, in calm measured tones with emphasis on his responsibility to plan eight programs a year, not to mention student engagement, leadership and managing a budget for the year.

As Henry describes how his experiences would translate to the workplace, Junior Delgado, director of Westfield State’s career center, looks on, beaming.
