The Indianapolis Colts defense took a big blow on the first defensive drive against the Houston Texans.

Star cornerback Sauce Gardner suffered a non-contact calf injury in the first quarter while blocking Texans tight end Cade Stover.

Gardner had a noticeable limp as he made his way to the sidelines and struggled to put weight on his left foot.

The Colts ruled him out for the remainder of the game.

Gardner was traded to the Colts by the New York Jets ahead of this year’s NFL trade deadline for two first-round picks and A.D. Mitchell.

Going into the Week 13 matchup, Gardner amassed 13 total tackles and two passes defended in two games.
