WESTFIELD — After a discussion on the intended purpose of community preservation funds and the need for a broader public conversation, the City Council approved a total of $115,000 to fund accessibility improvements for the Church of the Atonement and $45,000 for the preservation of stained glass windows in Central Baptist Church.
In presenting the Finance Committee’s recommendation to support the Church of the Atonement’s request, Rick Sullivan said the total cost for improvements to the elevator shaft at the church is $115,000, which was the lowest of three bids received. He said the church has not received funding from CPA in the past.
