Chef behind award-winning bagel shop in R.I. competing on ‘Guy’s Grocery Games’

A Rhode Island chef with Massachusetts roots will be competing on Food Network’s “Guy’s Grocery Games” Wednesday night, Jan. 31.

Milena Pagán, chef and owner of Little Sister in Providence and soon-to-open Rebelle Bagels in Cambridge, Mass., will appear in the episode of “Triple G” at 9 p.m. Pagán will be making dishes inspired by her Puerto Rican upbringing, a spokesperson told MassLive.

The show sends four chefs running through the aisles in a grocery store cooking competition. The chefs are hit by real-world challenges like being “out-of-stock” of an ingredient or having to create a meal using “5 items or less” on a $10 budget, the show’s description states. The winning chef gets to take a victory lap for a chance some serious cash. The episode title for Wednesday night at 9 is titled “10 Pounds, Two Rounds.”

You can tune in by watching Food Network on Philo, FuboTV or DirecTV Stream.

Pagán’s award-winning bagel shop Rebelle is relocating to 249 3rd St. in Cambridge this winter, just a stone’s throw away from the Massachusetts Institute for Technology, which is Pagán’s alma mater.

Rebelle was named a “Best of Rhode Island” winner by Rhode Island Monthly three years in a row. Pagán has also received a James Beard Award nomination for her Little Sister, was a PBN 2023 Business Women Awards Achievement Honoree and the 2020 EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award recipient.

The chef has also appeared in Bon Appetit, The New York Times and countless local Rhode Island publications. Updates about the upcoming shop can be found online or by following Rebelle on Instagram.
