Celtics’ Jayson Tatum ejected from 76ers game in 3rd quarter

BOSTON — With the Celtics fending off the undermanned 76ers on Friday, Jayson Tatum’s night came to an early end. It was a frustrating overall night for Tatum despite shooting well from the field. With 1.1 seconds left in the third quarter, Tatum got his second technical foul of the night, resulting in his ejection.

Tatum was also hit with a flagrant foul on the play that ended his night. He was called for the foul on Robert Covington, which was upgraded from a loose ball foul to a flagrant after a review. After he lost the ball, Covington also got a hit to the face. Tatum picked up his first tech of the night with 3:50 left in the first quarter.

While Tatum finished with 21 points, seven rebounds and four assists, he also had seven turnovers as part of a tough night. He shot 6-for-9 from the field and 7-for-9 from the free throw line, but there were a few instances where he disagreed with calls on the court.

It’s the first time Tatum has been ejected from a game this season. The Sixers didn’t have Tyrese Maxey or Joel Embiid in Friday’s game, but the depth players still gave the Celtics a tough night.
