Backstage, a website that links production companies with actors, has a bunch of new acting roles waiting for people who are interested in being on the big screen.

“Bitter” is an action horror film about a pastor who loses his mind hunting vampires after his wife is killed by one, according to Backstage.
This project is hiring a male actor between 25 and 50 to play Pastor Cain, according to Backstage. Pastor Cain is a “tortured soul masking his pain and guilt behind scripture and deflection.”
The project is also hiring for a Black woman between 18 and 33 to play Kitaka, Backstage reported. This character is a tough woman who joins the vampire-hunting team out of curiosity and for the love of a challenge. She is of West African descent.
The project is also looking for a Black man to play Deacon Mike, Backstage reported. This actor should be between 25 and 40. Deacon Mike is the “right-hand man” to the pastor.
The project is also looking for a woman to play Joyce, Backstage reported. The actress for this role should be a woman between 25 and 40. Joyce is a Christian missionary who became a vampire hunter.
This project shoots for two weeks in May in the Boston area, Backstage reported. Pay will be provided for this project at a rate to be determined. This job expires on Feb. 28.
“Ann Arbor” is an action-packed military thriller, Backstage reported.
This project is hiring for four roles.
The character of Paul Collins needs to be played by a male actor between 24 and 40. Paul Collins is a smart ranger with a moral backbone. But he questions authority when his orders misalign with his ethics, Backstage reported.
The character of Jackson needs to be played by a male actor between 21 and 30. Jackson is Paul’s friend who is wrestling with guilt and loyalty. His emotional volatility shows the moral ambiguity of their work, Backstage reported.
Staff Sgt. Mitchell needs to be played by someone over 30, Backstage reported. This character is a commanding leader under lots of pressure. They are also overwhelmed by their duties.
ShadowHawk Operatives needs to be played by someone at least 18, Backstage reported. This character is tasked with recovering sensitive materials and ruthlessly follows orders.
The actor playing Staff Sgt. Mitchell will be paid $25 for about three hours of work, Backstage reported.
The actor playing ShadowHawk Operatives will be paid $50 for about one day of work, Backstage reported.
Everyone else will be paid $50 a day for about three days of work, Backstage reported.

“Zippy’s House” is a short horror film about a troubled teen who attends a strange classmate’s birthday party, according to Backstage.
This project is looking for someone to play the role of Michael, according to Backstage. Michael is a boy who distrusts adults and he struggles with feelings of neglect and resentment. He should be played by a boy between the ages of 12 and 18.
This project is also looking for someone to play Zippy, an eerie and vulnerable child who spends their days playing alone, according to Backstage.
This project is also looking for people to play supporting characters such as Joanna, a mother who dislikes her son, Michael, and Jean, Zippy’s enigmatic and unsettling mom.
This project shoots in the first week of March in Central Massachusetts, Backstage reported. This job expires March 31.
The actor who plays Michael will be paid between $600 and $1,200 for about four days of work, Backstage reported.
The actor who plays Zippy will be paid between $450 and $900 for about three days of work, Backstage reported.
The actress who plays Joanna and Jean will each be paid between $150 and $300 for about three days of work, Backstage reported.
“Love Undone” is a show that explores the complexities and nuances of the Bell and Hill families as they navigate their respective lives, Backstage said.
This project is looking for someone to play Rufus Braxton, according to Backstage. This character is an honorable man who can’t get it “right” with his family. The actor should be between the ages of 40 and 65 and should identify as Black.
Pay will be provided for this project at a rate to be determined, according to Backstage. This job expires on March 2.
“The Big Fake” is about a retired park ranger and a “naive city slicker” trying to seek out whether Big Foot is real, according to Backstage.
This project is looking for someone to play Bert, Backstage reported. Bert is a retired park ranger who struggles to connect with people. When a fake Big Foot sighting video he made goes viral, he joins his neighbor Mary to try to find the mythical beast, fully knowing there is no such thing. The actor who plays Bert should be between 50 and 68.
Mary is an enthusiastic “old-timer” who takes pride in being adventurous, according to Backstage. She is always willing to learn and holds her relationship with her neighbor Bert in high regard. She should be played by a woman between 50 and 68.
Each role pays $150 for about three days of work, Backstage reported. This project shoots in and around Boston from March 28 to 30. This job expires on Feb. 25.
According to Backstage, “Winner Winner” is about a recent high school graduate who embarks on a night of gambling and debauchery with the plans of taking his own life the next day. He then meets with a local sex worker who tries to change his mind.
This project is looking to hire people for several roles. The main cast is:
- Isabelle aka “Cookie” is a sex worker who is strong, self-aware, funny and empathetic, according to Backstage. She should be played by someone between 20 and 30.
- Shane is a handsome, but awkward high school graduate who is depressed and doesn’t have much direction in life. He didn’t enroll in college and doesn’t have a strong connection to his family. He plans to take his own life after a night of booze, gambling and hookers. He should be played by someone between 18 and 25.
The actors who play Cookie and Shane will get paid $300 for about one day of work, according to Backstage. Actors in supporting roles won’t get any pay.
This job expires on March 29, according to Backstage.
“In Winter” is about a woman named Lynette who is looking for hope when she stumbles upon a surreal walled garden that helps her find her inner peace, Backstage reported.
Lynette should be played by a woman between 25 and 40, according to Backstage.
This project will shoot in one day in the second or third weeks of March in Worcester, according to Backstage. This job expires on March 8.
The actress playing Lynette will be paid $400 for about two days of work, Backstage reported.
“Edax Sizzle” is casting for a few roles for a suspense, thriller project, Backstage reported.
The character of Ann should be played by a woman between 30 and 45, Backstage reported. She is a desk nurse at a hospital and is sarcastic.
This project needs someone to play a patient, Backstage reported. This actor or actress should be at least 50 and needs to be good at looking scared.
This project is also looking for someone to play a shadow figure, Backstage reported. This actor needs to be someone who is at least 5 feet, 11 inches tall. They must have a slender build and be good at movement.
All actors in this project will be paid between $100 and $200, according to Backstage. This project shoots in late February or mid-March in Massachusetts. This job expires on March 31.
