Capital planning board approves $300K for new bunks at Southwick fire station

SOUTHWICK — The town’s Capital Expenditures Committee recently approved a capital project request of $300,000 from the Fire Department to build new bunks in the firehouse.

“It looks much like a college dorm room,” Fire Chief Richard Stefanowicz said during his presentation to the committee during its March 12 meeting.

The project has been in the design phase for several years, and during last year’s budget hearings there was money allocated for the project. However, after Stefanowicz had the job estimated, the bids came in too high and the plan had to wait.
