One of Cape Cod’s most iconic resorts is celebrating a major milestone this summer.
Wequassett Resort & Golf Club — the Forbes Double Five-Star property overlooking Pleasant Bay on Route 28 in Harwich — is marking its 100 year anniversary with a year of special events, a multimillion-dollar renovation and a renewed commitment to its tradition of hospitality.
Founded in 1925, Wequassett began as a collection of seaside cottages and has since evolved into one of the Northeast’s premier luxury destinations.
Over the years, it has welcomed generations of families, travelers and tastemakers drawn to its understated elegance, waterfront views and service.
Today, the resort is home to 120 guest rooms, multiple dining outlets, including the restaurant twenty-eight Atlantic, as well as pools, tennis courts, a children’s center and access to the private Cape Cod National Golf Club.
The centennial coincides with the completion of a $12 million, multi-year renovation project that refreshed 113 guest rooms, cottages and villas with coastal-inspired interiors.
Public spaces and dining venues also received major updates to blend modern design with Cape Cod tradition.
Festivities will include a James Beard Foundation-inspired culinary weekend at twenty-eight Atlantic, featuring guest chefs, wine pairings and interactive dining experiences.
As part of the celebration, Wequassett partnered with Cove Fine Jewelry to create the Centennial Ring, a limited-edition piece inspired by the hydrangeas and light of Pleasant Bay. Designed by Cape Cod native Alyson Iarrusso, the ring offers guests a way to carry home a piece of the Cape’s timeless charm.
For the Wequassett team, the 100th anniversary is about more than history, it’s about legacy.
“As we celebrate a century of memories at Wequassett, we’re honored to mark the milestone with something that so beautifully reflects the spirit of the Cape,” said Kara Lachance, the resort’s director of sales and marketing.
