Officers responded to a home on Hamden Circle in Hyannis for a report of “an industrial accident” around 5:15 p.m., Barnstable police said in a press release. At the scene, they discovered that two people had been injured after coming into contact with electrical wires.

One was flown to a Boston hospital, and the other was taken to Cape Cod Hospital, police said. One of the two injured people — a 31-year-old Hyannis man — has since died of of his injuries, the district attorney’s office said Tuesday.

“At this stage, preliminary investigations do not indicate any criminal activity, and the incident appears to be a tragic accident,” the district attorney’s office wrote in an email.

The district attorney’s office is still investigating the incident. No further information, including the man’s name, has been released.

“Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones during this difficult time,” the district attorney’s office wrote.
