MUSKOGEE, Okla. — Two Muskogee police officers were involved in a shooting Monday.

Menlo Park officers said Tesla consoles restricted weapons access, autopilot interfered with pursuit driving and smart lights and locks were not conducive to police functions

The ex-officer pleaded not guilty to charges of killing a woman he is accused of sexually exploiting when she was underage after she told him she was pregnant

“To get woke up at 3:12 in the morning that four police cars are on fire…my heart sunk to my stomach. I’ve never had that call before.” McKeesport Police Chief Mark Steele said

Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones said his office responded to 150 shoplifting calls in the past 2 months and alleged that the center does not provide enough security

A defective vehicle was stopped by a Muskogee police officer in the 1700 block of North York Street at approximately 9:20 p.m. according to a Muskogee Police Department press release.

The release says “after conducting a records check of the occupants in the vehicle the officer was notified by dispatch that one of the occupants had felony warrants. When the backing officer arrived on scene they approached the vehicle on the rear passenger’s side and ask the suspect to exit the vehicle.

“At that point the officer opened the vehicle door and the suspect turned towards the officers and pointed a gun at them. The officers fired multiple shots at the suspect striking him at least one time. The suspect did not fire his weapon.”

The release also says the three other occupants in the vehicle were not struck by gunfire but one had a minor injury. He was taken to Saint Francis Muskogee Hospital but declined treatment.

Jordan Pierce, 23, was taken to a Tulsa hospital and treated for his injuries, according to the release. Pierce was released then taken to Muskogee County City Detention Center on complaints of “assault and battery with a deadly weapon and possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute.”

The release says the officers involved were not injured. Both have been placed on paid administrative leave pending the investigation. The names of the officers have not been released.
