On June 9, officers responded to a report of a man firing a gun inside his residence following a verbal dispute with his wife, according to the release. An audio recording of the 911 call revealed that the man had fired the shot in the direction of a child’s bedroom and had multiple firearms in the home.

The suspect fled the residence in his vehicle and collided with an uninvolved motorist, helicopter footage shows. Police arrived at the scene shortly after to negotiate the suspect’s surrender. Officers gave the suspect instructions to exit the vehicle with his hands up but he did not comply, police said.

Body camera video then shows the suspect ignoring officer’s commands and pointing a gun at the officers, leading to an officer-involved shooting.

Officers used an armored SWAT vehicle to safely remove the uninvolved motorist from the scene. The Los Angeles County Fire Department assisted in providing medical attention to the motorist, according to the release.

The suspect was transported to the hospital and is expected to recover.
