LOS ANGELES COUNTY, Calif. — The LASD has released body camera footage of an incident where a man charged at officers and another woman with scissors, leading to an officer-involved shooting, according to a critical incident briefing.

“[Officer Jeremy Boykins] was not only a dedicated officer but also a beloved friend and colleague to many of us,” West Palm Beach Police Chief Frank Adderley said

Officer Mathew Bianchi claimed claimed he had been reprimanded on numerous occasions for writing tickets to the friends and families of officers

“Now is the time to have that talk with your child. If you don’t, I will,” Walton County Sheriff Joe Chapman said

The Aug. 4 incident began when deputies responded to a 911 call reporting a domestic disturbance, according to the briefing. The 911 caller reported that his son hit him in the face during a dispute.

When deputies arrived at the scene, the caller led them to the back of the residence. The suspect emerged from the home and immediately pulled a large pair of scissors from his pocket, video shows.

The suspect moved toward the deputies and a bystander, identified as the caller’s wife, while raising the scissors. One of the deputies deployed a TASER, which was ineffective at stopping the suspect.

After the suspect continued to advance, one deputy fired several shots, bringing the suspect to the ground. The bystander[SR1] had stepped in front of the deputy after the TASER was deployed, forcing the deputy to fire shots around her from behind.

Deputies rendered aid, but the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the briefing.
