The Springfield Regional Chamber will hold its Annual Meeting Celebration on Wednesday, June 12, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at MGM Springfield.

This year, the chamber will honor Sister Mary Caritas Geary, a health care professional, community advocate and volunteer for over 75 years, as the 2024 Springfield Regional Chamber Richard J. Moriarty Citizen of the Year. Additionally, the event will celebrate the chamber’s accomplishments from the year and recognize the 2024 Springfield Leadership Institute graduates.

A cocktail hour will begin at 5:30 p.m. and feature selections from Costa. Tickets are $75 for members in advance and $100 for nonmembers. Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton announces the transition of Sugarloaf Pediatrics to Northampton Area Pediatrics on July 1.

The transition will provide patients and their families with benefits including access to additional locations, expanded hours (nights and weekends), integrated behavioral health services, lactation support and parenting/support workshops, among others.

All staff at Sugarloaf Pediatrics will be offered opportunities to continue with roles within the practice or elsewhere within the Cooley Dickinson Hospital organization.

Monson Savings Bank President and CEO Dan Moriarty met with Laurie Flynn, president and CEO of Link to Libraries, to present her with a $6,000 donation on behalf of the community bank.

The donation made to Link to Libraries will be used by the nonprofit organization to donate books to local schools.

Moriarty and Flynn visited one of the schools benefiting from the Bank’s donation. Two boxes of books were donated to the Granite Valley School Library in Monson.

In addition to Granite Valley School, the donation will benefit Stanley M. Koziol School in Ware, Brookings School in Springfield, and Springfield Public Day Schools.

Peter Pan Bus Lines held its annual S.T.A.R. Awards and Safety Banquet at the Sheraton in Springfield, celebrating contributions of its team members through the “Super Team Achievement and Recognition” program.

This event acknowledged the achievements of over 100 drivers for their safety records, as recognized by the National Safety Council. The ceremony also highlighted various achievements, including Driver of the Year, Manager of the Year, Customer Care Employee of the Year, and the 2024 Peter Pan’s Extra Mile Award.

One of the evening’s focal points is the special recognition of Philandor Knight, who has been a member of the Peter Pan team for 26 years. His unwavering dedication and professionalism were honored as he received the American Bus Association’s 2024 Driver of the Year award, making him only the fifth motorcoach operator in the United States to achieve this honor.

The S.T.A.R. Awards were supported by sponsors MCI, Bridgestone Firestone, and Westfield Bank, underscoring their commitment to celebrating excellence in the transportation industry.

Nearly 400 community members contributed over $220,000 at The Log Cabin in Holyoke in support of The Care Center’s Moving Women Forward campaign. PeoplesBank offered a $50,000 match.

The Care Center’s Moving Women Forward campaign, launched in late 2022, has now raised 98% of its goal of $4 million for an endowment to assure that the Bard Microcollege is funded in perpetuity providing ongoing tuition-free education to students.

The event welcomed Oona Cook, The Care Center’s new executive director, and students Destiny Bermudez and Shy’heema Reid, all who spoke about their experiences.

Since 2016, The Care Center has been home to Bard Microcollege Holyoke, the first college in the country exclusively for young mothers and low-income women.

Freedom Credit Union raised $2,925 during its “Month of Giving” campaigns during the first three months of 2024.

Funds were split between four organizations:

— January: Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless

— February: Foundation for TJO Animals and Franklin County Regional Dog Shelter

— March: Griffin’s Friends

The mission of the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless is “to create lasting solutions to housing, income, health, education, and racial inequalities in all parts of the Commonwealth.”

The Foundation for TJO Animals supports the Thomas J. O’Connor Adoption Center, which provides animal shelter and adoption services for the cities of Springfield, Chicopee and Holyoke.

The Franklin County Regional Dog Shelter is a volunteer-led group serving the communities of Franklin County. Its mission is to protect and improve the lives of stray, lost and unwanted dogs.

Griffin’s Friends is committed to helping ease the hardships of children in treatment for cancer, and the families who love and support them.

Freedom’s May “Month of Giving” campaign supported A Bed for Every Child.

In June, July and August, Freedom will again collect funds and nonperishable food and personal care items in support of the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts.

Items may include baby formula; beans in cans or dried in bags; bread mixes; canned chicken, fish and meat; cereals; coffee and tea; cooking oils and spices; diapers, wipes and toilet paper; dried or canned fruit; evaporated/powdered milk; granola bars and crackers; feminine sanitary products; instant potatoes; pasta and noodles; peanut butter and nuts; rice and grains; sauces; shampoo and body wash/soap; soups, stews and chili in cans; toothpaste and toothbrushes and vegetables in cans.

The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts provides food to residents in Berkshire, Franklin, Hampden and Hampshire counties through its members, which include independent food pantries, meal sites and shelters.

The Connecticut Airport Authority, along with its business partner and concessionaire Paradies Lagardère, announces the opening of a new dining location at Bradley International Airport.

Beercode Kitchen & Bar is now open in the Gates 21-30 concourse. This gastropub-style concept is the first sit-down restaurant in this concourse, which will open daily at 4 a.m. with breakfast and then serve lunch and dinner throughout the day. Beercode will also showcase a lineup of local craft beer and other beverages.

Paradies Lagardère also has Beercode restaurants in Atlanta and San Antonio.

Since July 2023, Paradies Lagardère has been modernizing its offerings at Bradley. Paradies Lagardère also operates the iStore and Avanti Marketplace at Bradley.
