Western Massachusetts entrepreneurs and small business owners are invited to attend the “Your Business, Your Future” event on May 3 at La Quinta, 100 Congress St., Springfield, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Organized as part of SCORE Western Massachusetts’s 55th anniversary celebration, the event emphasis community support and economic enhancement. Included will be workshops, panel discussions, and one-on-one mentoring designed to share essential business tips, tricks and techniques.

Comcast announced a $20,000 grant to support the Urban League of Springfield’s Digital Learning Lab, which provides 150 participants each year with technology and Internet skills training, specialty workshops and more.
The grant will help fund a variety of enrichment training programs at the Urban League’s Digital Learning Lab. Programs include the Foster Grandparent Program, which helps seniors gain confidence in using online tools to mentor youth; and the Project Ready Program, which teaches students coding, advanced digital security and pathways to careers in computer science.
This grant from Comcast is part of Project UP, Comcast’s commitment to provide digital opportunities through programs and community partnerships.

Gary Rome Auto Group announced the successful wrap-up of its annual “Stuff the Trunk” Business Clothing Drive, held in March in partnership with Suit Up Springfield and Dress for Success Western Massachusetts. The effort collected new and gently used business attire to support local job seekers as they prepare to enter or re-enter the workforce.

River Valley Counseling Center recently received a donation of $1,239.50 from the Valley Players’ February production, “Love Letters.”
For each play the Valley Players produces, a local nonprofit organization whose mission aligns with important themes in the play is selected to receive half of the net ticket revenue. One of the two characters in Love Letters struggles with a number of mental health challenges with a lack of the necessary resources to handle it appropriately. For that reason, River Valley Counseling Center was selected.
River Valley Counseling Center is a multi-service community-based mental health agency serving the Pioneer Valley, offering traditional and non-traditional outpatient services to adults and children in Holyoke, Chicopee, Easthampton, Springfield and Westfield.

Greenfield Community College is excited to announce the second annual Nursing Health Expo, taking place on April 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the college’s East Lawn. This health fair is free and open to the public, and features many engaging activities led by GCC and partner health organizations.
As a service-learning initiative, students will present on essential health topics that benefit the community, including CPR, stroke awareness, nutrition, sun safety, menstrual equity, and family support. Attendees can learn the latest vital safety and health tips and get a feel for career paths from participating health professionals.
The event will also feature fun activities for all ages, such as medical helicopter tours, a “touch a truck” experience with police and fire trucks, and a mobile library booth.

In collaboration with Bay State Bank, State Treasurer Deborah B. Goldberg’s Small Business Initiative (SBI) opened online registration for its 2025 Small Business Empowerment Series. The series includes two free virtual workshops that will help Massachusetts entrepreneurs secure and manage their business finances. Both workshops will be presented in English with live interpretation in Spanish and Portuguese.
The series will kick off on April 23 with recorded remarks from Treasurer Goldberg and Bay State Bank President and CEO Seth A. Pitts and will conclude on April 30. During the series, participants will attend virtual trainings presented by experts at Bay State Bank who will cover topics related to mastering financial management, understanding banking services, and securing financing.
