Boston College earned a 5-3 win over Notre Dame on Friday afternoon thanks in part to a big game from a Bruins prospect.
Despite taking a 1-0 lead into the second period and tying the game at 2-2, the Fighting Irish couldn’t take back the lead once they relinquished it.
James Hagens scored a hat trick for the Eagles, and Dean Letourneau had a goal as he continued his strong sophomore season.
Hagens, who was drafted in first round of the 2025 NHL Entry Draft by the Bruins, scored his first goal of the game late in the second period to give BC its first lead of the game on a backhand attempt after an odd-man rush.
The second goal came two minutes later on a shot from down low to give BC a 4-2 lead going into the third.
Hagens capped off the hat trick in the third period on a two-on-one rush.
Letourneau, who was the Bruins’ first-round selection in 2024, scored his sixth goal of the season to tie things 2-2. He also added an assist in the win.
The victory moved BC to 8-5-1. The Eagles’ next game is Dec. 5 against UMass Lowell.
