No. 28 Frontier (0), No. 5 Chicopee Comp (3)
No. 5 Chicopee Comp swept No. 28 Frontier on Saturday in straight sets [25-16, 25-10, 25-18] in the Round of 32 of the Division II State Tournament.
Alexandra Rivera played a key role in the Colts’ win, tallying a match-high 14 kills and adding seven digs, two assists and an ace. Noah Johnson was among several other Colts to turn in a strong performance, posting 25 assists, five digs, two kills, two aces and a block.
Chicopee Comp will face No. 12 Fitchburg at home in the Round of 16 on Tuesday, June 3 at 5:30 p.m.
No. 26 Randolph (0), No. 7 Longmeadow (3)
No. 7 Longmeadow defeated No. 26 Randolph on Saturday in the Round of 32 of the Division II State Tournament, winning in straight sets [25-15, 25-19, 25-19].
Kean Jarvinen was instrumental in the Lancers’ victory, notching 19 kills, 10 digs and two assists. Meanwhile, Jace Anoje also was a big part of Longmeadow’s win. Anoje finished the match with 12 kills and 12 digs.
Longmeadow will host No. 10 Medfield on Monday, June 2 at 5 p.m. in the Round of 16.
No. 31 Granby (0), No. 2 Westfield (3)
No. 2 Westfield beat No. 31 Granby in three sets [25-11, 25-14, 25-14] on Saturday in the Round of 32 of the Division II State Tournament.
Giovanni Gonzalez was a big part of Westfield’s victory, with a jam packed statline featuring nine digs, eight kills, four assists, four aces and two-and-a-half blocks. Max Yurtuc was also key for the Bombers, as he contributed 25 assists, four digs, one-and-a-half blocks and one kill.
Westfield will square off against No. 18 Pioneer Valley Christian Academy on Tuesday, June 3 at 4 p.m. in the Round of 16.
