Saint John’s took down Springfield Central on the road in five sets on Thursday night, 27-29, 28-26, 25-16, 24-26, 15-13, in the Division I state tournament Round of 32.
Francis McGonagle recorded a team-high 28 kills for the Eagles along with two blocks, nine digs and five aces. Phil Vignaly chipped in 13 kills, four blocks and five digs, while Ani Vasudevan had two kills, 43 assists, six blocks, four digs and an ace.
The Pioneers will play either No. 7 Cambridge Rindge & Latin or No. 26 Barnstable in the next round

Springfield International Charter swept Pioneer Charter School of Science in the Division II state tournament preliminary round on the road Thursday.

Frontier swept Lynn Tech at home 25-16, 25-22, 25-18 on Thursday in the Division II state tournament preliminary round.
Tegan Dexter led the way on offense with 20 kills while chipping in 12 digs. Tavo Vincent-Warner had 37 assists, an ace, eight digs, a block and a kill, while Nate Rivera had nine kills, 11 digs, an assist and two aces.
The Redhawks will play No. 5 Chicopee Comp in the next round.

Chicopee fell to Assabet Valley Tech, 3-1, in the Division II state tournament preliminary round at home on Thursday.
Assabet Valley Tech will now play No. 3 Wayland in the Round of 32.

Southwick defeated Worcester South on Thursday, 3-1 (23-25, 25-22, 25-18, 25-14), in the Division II state tournament Round of 32.
Nicolas Spina led the Rams in kills with 27 while also contributing 13 digs. Phong Tran was also strong on the attack, adding 44 assists and a team-high four aces.
The Rams will play either No. 6 Marlborough or No. 27 University Park in the next round.
No. 31 Granby (3), No. 34 Keefe Tech (2)
Granby defeated Keefe Tech in five sets on Thursday in the Division II state tournament preliminary round 21-25, 25-15, 25-22, 23-25 17-15.
Braeden Gallagher led the way on offense with 18 kills. Four players finished the match with double-digit digs for Granby, including Gallagher, Brandon Chatel, Daniel Santiago and Nathan Walsh.
The Rams will face No. 2 Westfield in the next round.
