Red Sox prospect Jhostynxon Garcia homered twice and knocked in five runs in Triple-A Worcester‘s 12-10 win over Buffalo on Sunday.
Garcia — nicknamed “The Password” — belted a 354-foot two-run homer to right-center field to put the WooSox ahead 4-3 in the third inning.
The right-handed hitter’s second homer — also to right-center field — went 376 feet in the fourth inning and gave Worcester an 11-4 lead. It was part of a seven-run fourth inning for the WooSox.
The Athletic’s Keith Law recently ranked Garcia No. 46 on his most recent Top 50 MLB prospect rankings.
Kristian Campbell — who the Red Sox optioned to Worcester on Friday — went 2-for-4 with a triple, double, walk and strikeout.
Nick Sogard went 2-for-4 with two runs and drew a 19-pitch walk in the third inning.
Jordan Hicks — who the Red Sox acquired in the Rafael Devers trade from the Giants — made a rehab start. It was his first rehab appearance since going on the IL June 3 with inflammation in his big toe.
He allowed two runs, three hits (one homer) and one walk while recording just two outs.
Hicks likely will be a reliever for Boston as chief baseball officer Craig Breslow called him “a dominant late-inning reliever.”
.Manager Alex Cora said he might be activated Friday when the Red Sox return home to play the Blue Jays.
Corey Rosier went 1-for-3 with four RBIs.
