It’s Marathon Monday in Massachusetts, and MassLive is here with live updates and everything you need to know throughout the day.

The weather forecast projects a bright, sunny day for the 2024 Boston Marathon as runners, TV cameras and spectators get ready for the official start time just after 9 a.m. EST. It’s set to be another eventful Patriots Day around Boston as runners take over the 26.2-mile stretch from Hopkinton to Boylston Street.

From the starting gun to race winners and results, here’s everything you need to know for Marathon Monday, along with live updates as the festivities begin and the race kicks off.

What time does the Marathon start?

The first participants will leave the starting line in Hopkinton at 9:02 a.m. EST when the Men’s wheelchair division sets off. At 9:37 a.m., the first runners will begin to hit the course as the elite men start. The general entrants will start at 10 a.m. as they take the course in four waves.

Weather for Marathon Monday in Hopkinton and Boston

The Accuweather forecast for Monday at the start line in Hopkinton projects a high of 68 degrees with partly sunny and mild weather, “a great day for baseball, but warm for marathoners.” The AccuWeather forecast for Boston projects a high of 65 with similar conditions.

How to watch the race: TV channels, live stream info

Local race-day coverage will start at 4 a.m. EST on Channel 5, WCVB in Boston. The race will also be simulcast on WMUR in New Hampshire, WMTW in Maine and WPTZ in Vermont/New York.

National coverage will start at 8:30 a.m. on ESPN. Fans can watch the race for free by signing up for DirecTV or fuboTV, which both have free trials (the WCVB broadcast is only available locally).

How to watch the marathon for free

Viewers can sign up for a free trial of fuboTV and watch via WCVB if you live in the Boston TV market or nationally via ESPN. Viewers can also watch for free by downloading the Very Local Boston app, which is available on Roku and other streaming devices.
