Boston man accused of stabbing person in back at concert hall, police say

A Boston man was charged after police said he stabbed someone several times in the back at a concert venue in Brighton earlier this month, police said.

Collin Hullum, 36, was charged with assault to kill and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden said.

Hullum was ordered held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing on Dec. 20, Hayden said.

The stabbing happened at the Roadrunner at 89 Guest St. on Dec. 1 around 2:34 a.m., Hayden said. A 26-year-old unnamed person was being treated for five stab wounds in their back.

There was a verbal argument between the person’s party and three unidentified men in the foyer of the Warrior Ice Arena at 90 Guest St., Hayden said. One of the men — later identified as Hullum — hit the 26-year-old person in the back. The person then ran away from Hullum, holding their back.

Hullum also held a knife in a TikTok video that was posted online, Hayden said.

Witnesses said the fight started after Hullum’s sister cut the line at the bar and was confronted for doing so, Hayden said. She told Hullum she was assaulted.

Hullum walked to his car after the stabbing and drove away around 2:46 a.m., Hayden said. Investigators identified Hullum based on witness statements and surveillance video and later secured a warrant for his arrest.

A second person was seen carrying a knife during the fight, Hayden said, and at one point, that unidentified person tried to stab two people while inside the foyer of the Warrior Ice Arena.

“What was supposed to be an evening out enjoying a show quickly turned into a violent altercation that resulted in one man facing serious injuries and another man facing serious charges. The victim here seemed to be attempting to stop the violence. I thank him for that and I wish him a full recovery,” Hayden said.
