Ed Sheeran, Tyler Childers and The Killers will headline Boston Calling this year, but they are not the only notable acts taking the stage at the 3-day festival.
The headliners will be joined by more than 50 artists, including more than 20 acts from the Northeast.
To highlight these local artists, MassLive will publish profiles on the acts leading up to the festival’s May 24 start date.
Stefan Thev
From seeing artists previously take the stage at Boston Calling, Stefan Thev was inspired to work towards playing the festival himself.
“In 2022 I went for the first time, and by far my favorite memory was seeing HAIM perform and really respecting their game after,” the Brockton-based musician told MassLive. “Seeing them all switch from lead singer to guitar to drums was insane. I never saw a band do that before.”
Thev’s artistic career started with making music with his friends at SoundLab Recording Studios in Brockton.
Thev said he and his friends “would just explore different sounds and challenge each other to push for something greater.”
This effort has led Thev to be performing at Boston Calling for the first time this year.
He will also be performing on the Red Stage Sunday, May 26, which is being shared by some of the festival’s biggest acts including Royel Otis, The Revivalists, and Hozier.
“I’m excited to be on a stage that big,” the musician said. “It feels great to represent the best the scene has to offer and I know me and all the other acts are going to bring our all.”
Fleshwater, d4vd, Megan Thee Stallion, Khruangbin and Bad Rabbits are some of the artists that Thev is excited to see, aside from his fellow local musicians.
You can keep with Thev by following him on social media.
Boston Calling will take place Memorial Day Weekend from Friday, May 24, until Sunday, May 26, at the Harvard Athletic Complex in Allston.
