Jordon Hudson reportedly has a track record of derailing TV shows that aim to highlight former New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick.
The Athletic reports that Hudson, the 24-year-old girlfriend of the 73-year-old coach, was “instrumental” in ending a plan to feature Belichick’s North Carolina team on an upcoming season of HBO’s “Hard Knocks.”
Back in February, NFL Films was reportedly set to follow Belichick during his first season in Chapel Hill. “Hard Knocks” typically followed NFL teams. However, NFL Films reportedly struggled to find a franchise that would agree to appear on the series.
The series felt like a done deal. But days later, it fell apart. According to CBS Sports, NFL Films could not reach an agreement due to differences in “creative control.”
It appears that Hudson may have been at the root of those differences.
The Athletic reports that Hudson “played an instrumental role in stopping the production, related to her request to be heavily involved in the project.”
Hudson does not have an official role at UNC. However, she appears to have taken on an increasingly large role in handling Belichick’s public image in recent months.
Notably, Hudson derailed a recent interview with CBS Mornings, interrupting the segment multiple times. In a viral clip, Hudson cut in from off-camera to shut down a line of questioning about how she and Belichick met.
The interview was initially centered on highlighting Belichick’s new book, “The Art of Winning: Lessons from My Life in Football.”
Hudson has referred to herself as the COO of “Belichick Productions.” But as The Athletic notes, there appears to be no actual company with that name.
Hudson’s presence around the UNC football program has been notable. Belichick reportedly requested that Hudson be CC’d on emails sent to him. Additionally, Hudson has been spotted on the field at Tar Heels practices interacting with Belichick.
