Game of the week: Weymouth at Walpole, May 7 at 4 p.m.

After starting the year 1-2, the Needham Rockets have won seven games in a row to stay at No. 1 win in this week’s Bay State Conference softball power rankings.

Rainouts early in the week prevented much shaking up at the top of the rankings. The Tigers and Timberwolves each played just once last week, and their head-to-head matchup for Monday May 5 was pushed back a week.

The middle of the pack have all struggled with losses in recent outings, making it difficult for any one team to overtake another.

The only real mover is Braintree, who won back-to-back games over Framingham and Natick before losing two in a row last week.

One of the key matchups to keep an eye on this week will be Weymouth’s trip to Walpole on Wednesday. Another worth watching out for is Weymouth hosting Needham on Monday, May 12.
