No. 1 Pioneer Valley (12), No. 33 West Boylston (1)

The top-seeded Pioneer Valley Panthers continued their perfect season on Monday afternoon, pushing over No.33 West Boylston in the Round of 32 of the statewide Division V baseball tournament.

This marked the 22nd straight win for the Panthers, and here’s how they did it.

Pioneer Valley’s second-inning onslaught proved to be plenty enough, as they found themselves up 6-0. The hits kept on coming for the Panthers, and so did the runs.

They collected add-on runs through the next four innings, and their two pitchers were at the forefront of it all.

Ben Werner had himself a 4-4 outing at the plate, to go along with three runs and two RBIs as well as two stolen bases. Evan Tsipenyuk also went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI.

The two combined for just three hits and one run in pitching seven innings while only walking one batter and striking out six.

No. 16 Georgetown awaits the Panthers in the next round, as Pioneer Valley will look to carry this seemingly unstoppable momentum there on Thursday at 6 p.m.
