SPRINGFIELD — The assault charges against retired Massachusetts State Police Captain Brian Gladu have been dismissed after a trial failed to get off the ground last week.
The primary witness against Gladu declined to testify.
A Massachusetts State Police spokesman previously said Gladu retired on March 16, 2023, a week after a 27-year-old West Springfield resident obtained a temporary harassment order from a judge. When he retired at the rank of captain, Gladu was the subject of three investigations by internal affairs, the spokesman had said.
