“A Celtic Family Christmas,” with Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy, comes to The Mahaiwe in Great Barrington on Dec. 17. MacMaster is a Canadian folk musician who started playing the fiddle at the age of 9 and is one of Cape Breton’s most important exports and a superstar in the Celtic music world. “A Christmas Carol: A Ghost Story of Christmas,” Hartford Stage’s annual holiday tradition, finally returns after being sidelined for a couple of years by the COVID-19 pandemic. Michael Wilson’s adaptation and production is full of special effects, razzle-dazzle, and theatricality, and it’s one of the few holiday productions that can mesmerize season after season. “A Christmas Carol,” Berkshire Theatre Group’s production adapted and co-directed by Eric Hill, with co-direction by David Adkins, is an intimate rendering of Dickens’ classic, filled with a lot of heart.
