SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — A detective with the Scottsdale Police Department has died following an on-duty incident, according to the department.
Around 7:30 p.m. on June 13, the Scottsdale Police Department received a call that one of their officers was in need of emergency assistance near the airport, Scottsdale Police Assistant Chief Rich Slavin said during a news conference.
The officer, identified as Detective Ryan So, was transported to a hospital where he died from his on-duty related injuries, Slavin said.
So served with the Scottsdale Police Department for 9 years and ended his watch as a member of the Special Assignments Unit, the department said. He is survived by his wife and three children.
