Another weekend, another chance for rain as showers could make an appearance in Massachusetts on Saturday.
Showers should start to develop after 12 a.m. Saturday, according to the National Weather Service. These clouds come as the result of a low-pressure system off the mid-Atlantic coast.
As rain showers materialize, there’s uncertainty about how widespread any rain could be north of the Massachusetts Turnpike, forecasters said. It’s anticipated that there could be less rain south of the Mass. Pike.
Until Saturday afternoon, forecasters anticipate overall rainfall totals to likely be less than one-tenth of an inch. At this point in the day, drier air is expected to push through from the north to the south, pushing out any further rain chances for the day but with clouds expected to still be present in the skies above.
Daytime temperatures on Saturday are expected to be around 15 degrees cooler than they are expected to be on Friday, forecasters said. If Friday sees temps in the mid- to high 70s, Saturday could see highs in the mid- to low 60s.
Boston could see a high of 63 degrees, while Worcester should be one degree cooler, forecasters said. Springfield, Gloucester and Nantucket should reach 65 degrees.
Conditions should remain dry through the rest of the weekend before a warming trend kicks off on Monday, where daytime highs could be in the 70s, forecasters said. Temperatures should continue to climb as a warm front arrives Wednesday, followed by “more summer-like heat to Thursday and Friday with temps in the mid-80s…” and increasing humidity, forecasters wrote.
On Wednesday, Worcester could see a high of 81, while Boston and Springfield should both reach 82, forecasters said. Temperatures should not get any higher, with the lowest high being 71 degrees on Nantucket.
By the end of the week, another system from the Great Lakes could bring back the risk of thunderstorms, forecasters said.
