A Massachusetts singer who made it to the finale of “America’s Got Talent” last year will be returning to the AGT stage at the end of the month.
“Excited to announce that I will be appearing in the ‘America’s Got Talent presents Superstars Live’ show at the Luxor in Las Vegas from Feb. 27 to March 3,” Fitchburg’s Lavender Darcangelo said on Facebook Wednesday.
The 75-minute live variety show is “a celebration of some of the best acts” from AGT, according to the show’s description.
“Showgoers will be treated to an over-the-top opening number, setting the tone for an immersive spectacle that never lets up,” the description reads. “With such a vast portfolio of talent to draw from, America’s Got Talent presents Superstars Live will regularly introduce new acts as well as welcome limited-engagement special guests.”
The last time MassLive caught up with Darcangelo, the singer said her future looked “very exciting” after her amazing run on the 18th season of “America’s Got Talent” ended in September 2023.
The 28-year-old, who won over the hearts of millions with her incredible voice and moving anecdotes, did not walk away with the winning title. But she felt like she won in other ways.
“I’ve gotten enough exposure from so many people who want to help me with other dreams that go beyond just music,” the Fitchburg native said.
Darcangelo was among 11 contestants who took the stage during AGT’s two-part finale that aired Sept. 26 and 27. Despite not being named the champion, Darcangelo did receive high praise from the judges after the show.
“I remember Heidi saying that she will always be my cheerleader, even though things did not go as she wanted to,” Darcangelo said about the judge who gave her golden buzzer that catapulted her into stardom.
Darcangelo’s fame has also helped her work on several causes close to her heart. She recounted how someone from the Yass Foundation saw her talk about wanting to open a school based on student curiosity during her audition.
This has been a long-term goal of Darcangelo’s, who struggled in school because of her autism and blindness. The Yass Foundation ended up flying the singer and her dad to Cleveland, where she gave a speech about the school. The foundation is now working with Darcangelo to develop the school, she previously told MassLive.
“I’ve gotten thousands of messages and comments online, all in support and love,” Darcangelo said about the reception she has also gotten from her local community.
The singer has gotten citations from both the commonwealth and the city of Fitchburg, she told MassLive. Darcangelo was even given the key to city.
Aside from heading to Las Vegas for her appearances in the “AGT Superstars” show, Darcangelo will be working with a local agent to help her get some movie and TV gigs, as well as potentially some voiceover work, she previously told MassLive.
Darcangelo also plans on recording her debut album, called “Mosaic.” The GoFundMe set up to help get it off the ground has surpassed its $12,000 goal. People still interested in donating can click here.
