During a “Ladies Night”-themed episode of “American Idol,” the show’s two remaining platinum ticket winners were eliminated from the competition.
Kolbi Jordan and Canaan James Hill — two of the three contestants that the judges deemed worthy of platinum tickets during auditions — received the lowest amount of votes during Sunday night’s episode and did not advance to the Top 8. The news follows the departure of the third platinum ticket winner, Filo, who was voted off the show alongside Ché Chesterman last week.
During Sunday night’s episode, “Idol” viewers voted while the Top 10 contestants competed with songs by iconic women artists. Kolbi Jordan performed “The Chain” by Fleetwood Mac, while Canaan James Hill performed “Love Wins” by judge and past “Idol” champion Carrie Underwood.
The contestants who will advance are Breanna Nix, Mattie Pruitt, Jamal Roberts, John Foster, Josh King, Gabby Samone, Slater Nalley and Thunderstorm Artis.
Host Ryan Seacrest shared that each finalist received over 1 million votes, with a grand total of 22 million votes cast over the course of the episode.
The remaining eight “Idol” hopefuls will compete again on Monday night during a “Judge’s Song Contest”-themed episode.
