And then there were three.
Roughly 19 million votes from “American Idol” viewers have determined which three contestants will face off in this Sunday’s Season 23 finale. Breanna Nix, John Foster and Jamal Roberts have advanced to the Top 3; Thunderstorm Artis and Slater Nalley, however, didn’t make the cut.
Host Ryan Seacrest revealed the results during Monday night’s episode of the singing competition, which was the second of two Disney-themed episodes this week. The penultimate round of this season found each of the Top 5 contestants singing two of their favorite Disney songs, while “Idol” viewers voted for their favorite contestants over the course of the program.
Nalley performed “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” (from “Toy Story”) and “Born To Be Wild” (from “D3: The Mighty Ducks”), while Artis selected “A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes” (from “Cinderella”) and “Find Yourself” (from “Cars”).
Sunday’s season finale will be a star-studded affair, featuring guest performers like Josh Groban, Patti LaBelle, Salt-N-Pepa and Jessica Simpson, among others. Judges Lionel Richie, Carrie Underwood and Luke Bryan, as well as artist-in-residence Jelly Roll, will also take the stage.
