WESTFIELD — Because maintaining an ice rink is not inexpensive, and with Amelia Park marking its 25th anniversary, the nonprofit will be holding several new fundraising events this year and it kicks off its first with an inaugural Celebrity Bartending fundraiser at the Westfield Applebee’s on Friday, March 7, from 5:30-8:30 p.m.
“It’s a constant financial battle keeping the rink up to the standard our community deserves” said Amelia Park General Manager Billy Fellows. “We have one of the nicest facilities in the area, but it’s certainly not easy to maintain.”
It’s been 25 years since Al Ferst opened the doors to this “incredible facility” for the city and surrounding areas, but as equipment ages, it breaks, and replacing it is expensive.
